Information Session on Recent SOI Demand Letters

BAAA members are invited to learn more about a recent wave of demand letters being sent to apartment communities claiming disparate impact based on source of income discrimination. This webinar will be held on Friday, February 25 at 11AM and will be led by Ms. Whitney Daly, Attorney at Law with the MGFD Law Firm.  

Background

In recent weeks, at least one law firm has sent demand letters to numerous apartment communities throughout the State of Florida, claiming disparate impact based on source of income discrimination by apartment communities.  These demand letters threaten suit and seek settlement to avoid litigation.  BAAA issued a regulatory alert to members to warn them of this new activity back in January 2022.  

This webinar will be led by Whitney Daly, an attorney with MGFD Law, who has experience handling fair housing-related matters for multifamily clients.  The discussion will provide BAAA members better insight into the basis of these demand letters and helpful advice on how properties may respond.
