Background

At the end of 2021, Hillsborough County awarded funding to Bay Area Legal Services to implement a new two year program intended to help tenants and landlords mediate disputes quickly, outside the court process. The program provides neutral mediators, helps tenants apply for rental assistance, and features an expedited review process for rental assistance funds.  Thus far, requests for rental assistance are being processed and paid in about a week's time.

The program is open to tenants who make 80% or less of the area median income.  There are no income restrictions for landlords participating in the program.  Please consult THIS FLYER for more details regarding the program.
