BAAA Making its Presence Felt in Tallahassee

On January 28 and 29, over forty BAAA members trekked to the State Capitol to participate in the 2020 Legislative Conference organized by the Florida Apartment Association (FAA).  Over the two days, participants attending FAA briefings and board meetings, and most importantly shared our industry’s priorities with State legislators in one-on-one meetings.  This year, our legislative asks included support for legislation to fully fund the Sadowski Affordable Housing Trust fund, curbing emotional support animal abuse, clarifying fire radio signal requirements, and making it clear local governments can provide tax credits to affordable housing development.  Ultimately, our members met with 27 of the 37 Senators and Representatives that cover BAAA’s territory.  As our priorities make their way through the legislative process, we’ll be calling on BAAA members to continue this outreach to our elected officials, so keep your eyes open for future calls to action.
