Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) Credential

The CAPS credential builds advanced leadership and property management skills for experienced apartment managers and multi-site supervisors. Through practical instruction, participants develop the knowledge needed to lead teams, manage performance, strengthen client relationships, and oversee property investments.

CAPS training provides experienced property management professionals with the tools to lead with confidence, manage performance, and take on greater responsibility across multiple properties.


Please note: Because this is a certification course with exam, the full cost of the course is due three weeks before start of the class. Unpaid students will not be admitted.

This class qualifies for 6.0 continuing education credits needed for credential renewals. 

Class Requirements

Prerequisite:
Must have 24 months of experience as a multi-site supervisor, or hold a CAM, ARM, or RAM designation in good standing with 24 months of management experience.

Completion Requirements:
Complete the five required courses, totaling 40 hours, and meet all examination requirements within the six-month candidacy period.

Candidacy Period:
6 months

Extensions:
Up to two 6-month extensions are available for a $75 fee per extension.

  • 4 hours
  • $100 retake fee

Renewal Information

Annual renewal is required.

  • $125 renewal fee
  • 8 CECs
  • $50 reinstatement fee

Alex Jackiw is the Chief Operating Officer of Hayes Gibson Property Services. She was the 2013 Chairman of the Board for NAA. She is an Assistant Professor at Ball State University in the Residential Property Management program. Alex is also a licensed real estate broker and holds the Certified Property Manager (CPM®) and CAPS® designations. She has a Master’s Degree in Education.
