Governor Extends Eviction Moratorium

Yesterday Governor DeSantis signed an Executive Order that extends the suspension of evictions and foreclosures until July 1st, 2020

The Bay Area Apartment Association realizes the economic impact that the COVID19 pandemic has had on so many apartment residents, making it difficult for them to pay their rent and meet other financial obligations. BAAA member communities quickly worked with their residents on payment plans, and encouraged them to have discussions with their property managers on their individual situations. Our members did this to provide some  peace of mind for apartment residents during this difficult time.

BAAA, and our partners at the Florida Apartment Association and National Apartment Association, would remind elected leaders that moratoriums only provide short term security and a very temporary solution. Assistance programs that cover rent and mortgage forbearance programs designed for all multifamily mortgage holders are critically needed to provide stability for renters and housing providers alike. We stand ready to work with local, state and federal elected leaders on these solutions and the underlying affordable housing concerns.
