Please join us on Wednesday, October 26 at 10:30AM for this IN-PERSON landlord training and information session with officials from the St. Pete Housing Authority (SPHA), and the Pinellas Housing Authority (PHA), and Pinellas County Government. The training will take place at Burlington Place Apartments, who graciously offered to host the training, located at 3155 Burlington Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33713.

This training session will give property managers unfamiliar with working with Housing Authorities an in-depth look at the process of registering and working with the St. Pete and Pinellas County Housing Authorities.  This training is intended for property managers new to Housing Choice Vouchers and will be similar to the landlord trainings that these Housing Authorities normally offer new landlord participants. A representative of Pinellas County will also be on hand to field any questions that may arise related to the new Pinellas County Tenant Bill of Rights ordinance and its interplay with local housing authorities. Presenters will include:

  • Larry Gonzalez, Vice-President of Housing Choice Voucher with the St. Pete Housing Authority
  • Ray DiRusso, Director of Compliance and Development Services with the Pinellas Housing Authority
  • Carol Stricklin, Director, Pinellas County Housing and Community Development Department, Pinellas County Government

This event will have a maximum capacity of 30 people.  The content will be the same as the afternoon session so there is no need to attend both sessions.  If you registered for the afternoon session and would like to move your reservation to the afternoon session, please send a note to GAD@baaahq.org.

Background

In August Pinellas County passed their Tenant Bill of Rights, which requires landlords to consider prospective residents with Housing Choice Vouchers and other housing subsidies. The session will also give attendees and opportunity to raise any questions they may have regarding how the Pinellas Tenant Bill of Rights will impact their interactions with these Housing Authorities and voucher recipients.
