Pasco Plan to Rollback Multifamily Fee Discounts Advances
On May 21, the Pasco County Planning Commission voted to approve a draft ordinance that removes discounts on mobility impact fees for market-rate apartments and increases discounts on these fees for affordable housing, including multifamily. The ordinance now must be considered before the Pasco Board of County Commissioners.
The increase in fees will range from about $300 per apartment for communities in the Urban standard zone, to $2,582 per apartment in the Rural standard zone. Affordable housing will see mobility fees reduced to zero, thus resulting in fee reductions of between $1,000 and $5,000 per affordable apartment.
While the Planning Commission moved the ordinance forward, it did include a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners that the ordinance should not take effect until January 1, 2021, due to the Coronavirus and its impacts on the local economy. Otherwise, as currently drafted, the ordinance would go into effect on August 10, 2020.
