Pasco County Approves Plan to Adjust Mobility Fees
Last week, on Tuesday, June 30, the Pasco Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a plan that adjusts mobility fee discounts for multifamily housing.
According to the plan, mobility fee discounts currently applied to multifamily housing in the Urban, Suburban, and Rural standard categories will be removed, thereby increasing fees. Fee increases range from about $300 per apartment in the Urban category, to close to $2600 per apartment in the Rural category. According to County data, the majority of new multifamily construction is in the Urban portions of the County, with 27% specifically in the Urban standard category.
The plan also provides additional discounts for affordable housing, reducing mobility fees to zero for all new affordable housing developments. This reduces fees for affordable housing multifamily development by $1,000 to $5,000 per apartment.
More details on these fee adjustments are available here. These changes will become effective September 1, 2020.
