NAA Network Update: Hurricane Harvey

Community Outreach,

Dear NAA Member,

As you are aware, Hurricane Harvey has caused unprecedented levels of flooding in Houston. With more rain expected along the Gulf Coast and across Southwest Louisiana, I wanted to take the time to reassure you that NAA has been taking steps to aid its members and affiliates affected by this devastating storm.

In advance of Harvey making landfall, we reached out with calls of assistance to our affiliates in the areas at risk and our homepage banner content was updated to point to resources housed in NAA’s Emergency and Disaster Library, which were further shared through social media. Additionally, our lead story in today’s Industry Insider contains an overview of the situation, as well as details for those interested in how to help.

The Texas Apartment Association (TAA) also has a storm resource page, and we are staying in close contact with them as they continue to assist affiliates, members and citizens with on-the-ground storm relief efforts. Updates will be communicated through NAA’s website, social media channels (#HelpforHouston) and direct messaging.

TAA announced Monday that it is making a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross to assist with Harvey relief efforts. NAA also has pledged $10,000 to the American Red Cross.

If you're interested in helping, please consider a monetary donation to the Red Cross. To give to Harvey relief efforts, text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief or visit The American Red Cross.

NAA is planning for relief efforts, developing messaging and will provide ongoing operations-oriented coverage during the recovery phase. We will track the storm as it moves across the upper Texas coast and into Southwestern Louisiana and will continue to offer our assistance to affiliates and members. Please share any of your industry efforts with us at the email below.

If you are in an area affected by the hurricane and are in need of shelter, the Red Cross can assist. If we can be of further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at communications@naahq.org.

Sincerely,

Bob Pinnegar, CAE
